HAWKSBILL SEA TURTLE

HAWKSBILL SEA TURTLE

The Hawksbill sea turtle, named after its curved, pointed beak, ressembling that of a bird of prey, is sadly, critically endangered. They use their specially designed beak to feed on sponges and other invertebrates growing on coral reefs. They can grow up to 114cm long and weigh 50-68kgs. They are found in coastal waters of more than 108 countries, and Australia is host to one of the largest nesting populations in the world.

This is a print of an original watercolour hand-painted Hawksbill sea turtle by Amy Mulholland.
