Learn how to white wash to freshen up your furniture

My workspace in our new home has finally started to come together! My husband put together a lovely big desk for me with plenty of space for creating. He used simple, affordable pine and I painted it with a lovely white wash paint mix to bring it to the next level, soften those yellow tones in the pine and give it a fresh, coastal feel. It really was quite simple! So I've given a quick step-by step guide here so you can achieve this soft white wash look in your own home.

You can use this wood treatment anywhere. As I researched this method, I found it used on furniture, floorboards and pine walls. It's a great way to freshen up pine without covering the beautiful wood-grain.

White paint (I used some acrylic paint I had at home)

Old jar or small bucket

Mix 1 part white paint to 3 parts water in your jar or bucket

Using the paintbrush, apply the white wash to the wood, working in small sections to make sure the white wash has spread evenly and you leave no paint streaks. It is a good idea to lay a drop cloth down as the wash is runny.

Allow white wash to dry and reapply additional coats until you reach the strength of white wash you prefer! I applied a few coats.
